Meticulously preserved by the Kane Historic Preservation Society, this old Pennsylvania Railroad Station has been transformed into The Kane Depot, featuring Station Shops, a Holgate Toy Co Display, the Historical Society’s Museum, and The McCleery Discovery Center.
The Kane Depot, a carefully preserved historic railroad station dating back to around 1871, stands as an example of the Kane community’s railroad history while also housing Station Shops at The Depot, The Kane Historical Society Museum, and The McCleery Discovery Center.
The McCleery Discovery Center shares the history of Dr. Edward H. McCleery’s impact on wolf preservation. McCleery, known as the father of the endangered species movement, established one of the first sites in America dedicated to preserving an endangered species — the Great Plains Buffalo Wolves. The McCleery Discovery Center tells his fascinating story through an impressive Lobo Wolf display featuring original letters, vintage photos, wolf skulls, wolf pelts, educational videos, and “Tanya” — the museum’s full wolf mount.
