Tell Your Story Educational Summit

Tell Your Story Educational Summit

Telling the stories of the people, places, culture and history are a powerful way to attract new visitors and engage residents. In a world full of technology and rapid changes, how does a business or community tell its story in an effective way.

The PA Route 6 Alliance is addressing the use of “storytelling” at its educational summit and annual meeting in a 2-day event, May 22 and 23, in Wayne County. Tapping the expertise of digital storyteller, Sarah Benoit of JB Media Institute, the event will be full of practical and “do-able” techniques for telling your story in a relatable manner.

The activities kick off on Wednesday, May 22th with an educational summit, Tell Your Story. Designed for Chambers of Commerce, economic development groups and businesses, the workshop will feature a discussion on how communities can create real programs and attractions that visually tell their story. The discussion will be followed by a presentation from Ms. Benoit on using digital content and social media and she will lead participants through some hands-on exercises. The workshop will be held at the Dorflinger Factory Museum in White Mills from 10 AM – 2 PM. Registration cost is $20 and includes lunch.

On Wednesday afternoon, White Mills will present its own story in a bus tour of the attractions and sites of the area, followed by a reception at the Dorflinger Factory Museum. There is no cost for either the bus tour or the reception.

On Thursday, May 23, the Annual Meeting and “Do 6” Awards will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Boiler Room of the Hawley Silk Mill. The Annual Meeting includes a period of networking and viewing of sponsor displays, followed by the PA Route 6 Annual Business Meeting and a presentation on the accomplishments in 2018. Ms.  Benoit will be the Keynote Speaker, presenting “Your Story Has Power – Don’t Ever Doubt It”. Registration fee is $35 and includes a hot buffet lunch.
