About

CONNEAUT CELLARS WINERY & DISTILLERY is an artisan winery and distillery performing all of its operations in its 7,200 square-foot facility in Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania. Visitors are welcome to sample the award-winning wines (over 20 varieties from sweet to dry), hard ciders, and distilled spirits.

Conneaut Cellars Winery & Distillery highlights include…

Small-Batch Artisan Winemaking – Conneaut Cellars Winery & Distillery takes a small-batch, artisan approach to winemaking and distillery operations. In their own words, “Tender loving care is applied to each process, from the grapes to the bottle. The grapes are gently squeezed by small bladder presses and then aged in stainless steel tanks, French oak barrels, or Pennsylvania oak barrels. The winery offers a broad spectrum of tastes from the farm wines of our grandparents through the more sophisticated French-American hybrids to the noble vinifera of world fame.”

The Artisan Distillery – Established in 2013, Conneaut Cellars Distillery is the first distillery in the Lake Erie region since Prohibition and the first solar-powered distillery in the state! In their own words, “Currently we distill small batches of high quality distilled spirits using our three stills.” … “We employ traditional artisan methods blended with the latest techniques to give our customers the highest quality distilled spirits. In addition, we use regionally sourced materials when available. Our spent grains go to Allen Farms to feed their cattle.”

Their Support of the Region – Conneaut Cellars Winery & Distillery produces various wines and spirits inspired by the surrounding Great Lakes region, using creative proprietary names to promote specific local landmarks and locations.

The European Influence & Family Roots – In 1982, Dr. Alan Wolf’s winemaking education and experience in Germany became the foundation for Conneaut Cellars Winery and its great wines. Since then, Wolf’s son Joal and daughter-in-law Mary have taken over operations, including artisan winemaking and distilling, at Conneaut Cellars Winery & Distillery. Joal’s childhood memories of making wine with his father in the 1960s, his 27+ years of service in the military, some in Europe, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Penn State University combine to make Conneaut Cellars Winery & Distillery the success it is today!
