THE PENNSYLVANIA LUMBER MUSEUM’s mission is to “serve its diverse community by actively working to preserve and share the history of Pennsylvania’s forests, inspiring our audience to become better stewards of Pennsylvania’s forest resources and heritage.”
Hands-On Interactive Exhibits –– Interactive exhibits in the museum’s visitor center provide visitors of all ages a hands-on experience with history, simulating various logging acts like swinging an ax, sawing a tree, piloting a log raft, and racing locomotives!
The Beautiful 10-Acre Campus – The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum’s scenic 10-acre campus features impressive outdoor exhibits, including a re-created early 20th-century lumber camp, a 70-ton Shay geared-locomotive, Barnhart log loader, and a CCC log cabin. Bring your walking shoes.
Annual Bark Peeler’s Festival and Other Special Events – The museum hosts various special events and educational programs throughout the year. Winter in the Lumber Camp promotes outdoor recreation in the snow amidst the museum’s lumber camp. The Spring and Fall Antique Shows feature a demonstration of the historic sawmill.
