The PA Route 6 Alliance is proud to announce the release of the 2026 PA Route 6 Artisan Trail Map, unveiled as part of Artisan Trail Month each April, a celebration of the region’s vibrant creative community.
This year’s map is themed “Makers and Landscape: Art Rooted in PA Route 6,” highlighting the deep connection between the region’s artisans and the landscapes that inspire their work. From rolling mountains and forested valleys to historic small towns, the PA Route 6 corridor continues to shape the creativity and craftsmanship found along the trail.
Established in 2004, the PA Route 6 Artisan Trail was created to raise awareness of the arts and creative industries throughout the PA Route 6 Heritage Corridor. What began as a small initiative has grown into a network of more than 400 artisans, businesses, and organizations across northern Pennsylvania, all contributing to the region’s culture, economy, and quality of life.
Stretching across more than 400 miles of scenic roadway, PA Route 6 offers visitors the opportunity to explore studios, galleries, farm shops, museums, and cultural destinations, while meeting the makers behind the work. The Artisan Trail is more than a map. It’s an invitation to experience creativity firsthand, connect with local communities, and discover the stories behind each handcrafted piece.
The 2026 Artisan Trail Map features 75 businesses showcasing a diverse selection of members, including stops at breweries, art centers, local craft shops, artisans, craftspeople, and more. Each member offers a unique perspective on art, craft, and community along Route 6.
Artisan Trail Month in April encourages residents and visitors alike to explore the trail, support local makers, and experience the creative spirit that defines the PA Route 6 region. Special events, markets, and opportunities to meet artisans make this the perfect time to plan a trip along one of Pennsylvania’s most scenic and culturally rich corridors.
“The Artisan Trail continues to showcase the incredible talent found throughout the PA Route 6 corridor,” said Candace Hillyard, Executive Director of PA Route 6 Alliance. “We have such a variety of artisans here. Whether you’re visiting a studio, shopping locally crafted products, or attending an event, you’re engaging directly with the creativity and stories that make PA Route 6 such a unique destination.”
The Artisan Trail is open to a wide range of creative makers, businesses, and organizations, from traditional artisans like potters and woodworkers to galleries, breweries, and farm-to-table establishments. Membership provides valuable exposure, including placement on the annual map, online listings, promotional opportunities, and inclusion in events and marketing initiatives.
Now is the time to get involved. Applications for the next cycle will open later this year, and it’s never too early to begin planning for inclusion on the 2027 PA Route 6 Artisan Trail Map.
