Kinzua Heritage Folk School Workshops
The Kinzua Heritage Festival organizers have offered artisan and skills workshops to the public at various venues over the years. With improvements and the addition of a new building to the grounds, the group is now ready and able to offer these workshops and more, in one central location on their grounds!
The goal is to build a living, breathing center for traditional arts in the Kinzua region—one where artisans, musicians, storytellers, and students can gather to learn, create, and carry forward the cultural traditions that shaped our communities. Our instructors possess the ability to blend skilled craftsmanship with storytelling, historical context, and hands‑on learning for this new regional initiative.
The inaugural workshop event to kick off this new folk school will take place on Saturday, October 10th, 2026!
Participants may sign up for two – 2 ½ hour long workshops, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Lunch is included. The pre-registration fee is $40 for the day, if registered by October 2nd, 2026. If you register after Oct. 2nd the fee is $45. A limited number of walk-ins may be accepted! Minimum attendee age is 12 yrs. Ages 12 – 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Workshop topics include: Wire wrapping, Blacksmithing for beginners, Iroquois Style beading, Basket Weaving, Ply Split Braiding, plus Fall Graden prep where participants will learn how to put your garden to bed for the winter, plus learn about and how to recognize beneficial weeds in your yard!
