ArtWorks Gallery & Studio highlights include…
The Downtown Location — ArtWorks’ new location at 236 Penn Avenue in downtown Scranton provides three-times the gallery space of their old location! There is ample space for a diversity of programming and events, including a modern exhibition space, an artisan retail shop, and multiple studios for room to grow.
The Pottery Studio — ArtWorks also boasts a new Pottery Studio in Scranton, PA, including a kiln for firing clay works to create one-of-a-kind pottery items.
The Incredible Program — ArtWork’s mission to “celebrate the artist in each of us” shines through in their extraordinary work with individuals with special needs. With a goal to “provide choices, confidence, and skill-building,” ArtWorks encourages its participants to exercise autonomy in setting their program schedule as well as selecting art mediums, subject matter, and style. Participants work side by side with instructors to prepare and train for on-site and community-based exhibitions by creating art, pricing their work, writing artist statements, and setting up exhibitions.
ALL are Welcome! — ArtWorks also offers art classes for adults, teens, and children—regardless of special needs or not. Plus, all events are free and open to the public, such as during Scranton’s “First Friday” each month when ArtWorks invites the public to enjoy their current exhibition. This immersion of ArtWorks’ program participants into the larger community surely benefits the community as much as it benefits the individuals themselves.
