ERIE ARTS & CULTURE, a regional arts agency for Northwestern Pennsylvania, as appointed by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), aims to promote, support, and develop culture and creativity throughout communities in Erie, Crawford, Venango, Warren, Mercer, and Lawrence counties via various programs, including the Erie Arts Endowment, Arts in Education (AIE) Partnership, PA Partners in the Arts, New Horizons, and Folk and Traditional Arts.
Erie Arts & Culture highlights include…
Placemaking & Public Art – Erie Arts & Culture makes “creative placemaking” a priority, striving to foster public engagement and community investment through site-specific performance art, temporary and permanent public art, and preservation and/or improvement of community property.
Capacity Building Services for Organizations & Creative Professionals – Once known primarily as a grantmaking organization, Erie Arts & Culture takes its mission of “capacity building services” seriously. While they still provide financial support, Erie Arts & Culture also provides a multitude of learning opportunities and business resources to help creative professionals grow their impact in the region.
The Arts in Education (AIE) Program – Erie Arts & Culture partners with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts to administer an Arts in Education (AIE) program, which brings meaningful hands-on arts experiences to the region’s youth and adults through artists-in-residence throughout area schools and communities.
Cultural Preservation – Erie Arts & Culture strives to celebrate the region’s diversity and inter-culturalism. They explain, “We must place an emphasis on preserving and promoting the cultural traditions of our residents and not striving for assimilation.”
