Preserving the heritage of Northeastern Pennsylvania for future generations.

First established in January, 1946, the Wyoming County Historical Society (WCHS) was reorganized in 1977 by a small but determined group of local historians and genealogists.

“The purpose of the Wyoming County Historical Society will be to bring together those people interested in history, especially the history of our county. A better understanding of our county and community history can help us appreciate our American Heritage to a greater degree. We anticipate the society will collect and preserve printed documents and museum pieces which will establish and illustrate our local heritage.”
After a lot of hard work, the WCHS moved into the Harrison Street School building in 1981. Literally starting with nothing, the society has grown into a strongly-supported genealogical library and a fascinating museum full of local artifacts from all time periods of human occupation.

The wonderful members, terrific volunteers and devoted society officers over the years have given all of us a place to be proud of. Let us continue to preserve our history, enjoy our present, and plan for our future.
