YORKSHIRE MEADOWS KNITTING & SPINNING SHOP is worth the short scenic drive north on Route 549, off of Route 6! This friendly Tioga County sheep farm with knitting and spinning shop offers hand-spun yarn, knitting and spinning supplies, hand-knitted items, plus personalized classes and retreats on knitting, spinning, and basic needle felting, too.
YORKSHIRE MEADOWS KNITTING & SPINNING SHOP highlights include…
THE SHEEP & WOOL – Yorkshire Meadows has breeding ewes on-site who produce around a dozen newborn lambs each spring. Their wool gets sheered in April, then either spun into yarn to sell in the shop, sold as whole fleeces, or washed and dyed for spinning or needle felting. Aside from Yorkshire Meadows’ hand-spun yarn, you will also find a generous inventory of retail yarns.
PERSONALIZED CLASSES & RETREATS – Yorkshire Meadows has a cozy Airbnb apartment on-site, so talk to Liz, the owner, about setting up a peaceful knitting and spinning retreat!
THE OWNER’S HERITAGE—& BAKING SKILLS! – Born and raised in Yorkshire England, Liz infuses everything at Yorkshire Meadows with tradition. Call ahead to set up a “Tea” to enjoy in the shop, including tea sandwiches, a salad, and a sampling of Liz’s artisan Scottish Scones, English Shortbread, and her specialty, Lemon Curd.
