SIGNATURE BIKE LOOP 6

Signature Loop 6 – Hawley and Wally Showdown, Revised

Lake Wallepaupack is the second largest lake contained entirely in Pennsylvania, and it serves as the centerpiece for Signature Loop 6. Here you’ll find resorts and marinas that provide access to the calm, picturesque shorelines of the lake. This area is often considered a tourist destination, especially for couples looking for romantic getaways, but it’s truly a region for everyone. With abundant outdoor recreation opportunities, a vibrant cultural scene, and plenty of night life fun, this region is sure to provide entertainment long after your ride has ended.

This loop begins in Bingham Park in the Heritage Community of Hawley, just across the Lackawaxen River from Soaring Eagle Rail Tours. If you’re looking to experience a truly unique cycling experience, consider the thrill of electric railbiking at Soaring Eagle Rail Tours, the Pocono Mountains’ premier outdoor adventure, and the region’s exclusive experience of its kind. This is an exciting and “family-friendly” way to immerse yourself in nature and wildlife, all from the comfort of a bicycle seat.

For a more traditional bike ride, head south through Hawley to PA Route 6 toward Lake Wallenpaupack Road, which parallels much of the southeastern shoreline of Lake Wallenpaupack. Enjoy almost 12 miles of scenic views and a gentle breeze blowing in off the lake.

Just south of Wallenpaupack, turn right onto Ledgedale Road, cross over the river, and then turn left to continue on Ledgedale to Catterson Road. Turn left onto Goose Pond Road and right onto Chapman Road to beautiful Lake Ariel. To follow the eastern shore, turn left onto E Shore Drive and enjoy a scenic ride along this beautiful natural, spring-fed lake that has a long history as a resort area.

From Lake Ariel, follow PA 191 North and turn left onto Stock Farm Road and then another left onto Theobold Road. Turn right onto Middle Creek Road until you pick up PA 191 North again. This little bypass can be cut off just by continuing on PA 191 North and skipping the turn onto Stock Farm Road, but the latter is a scenic little ride on lesser traveled roads.

Turn right onto Hoadley’s Road, left onto PA 590 E, and then left onto PA Route 6 back to Hawley and Bingham Park.
