PA Route 6 Energy Mini Grant Program
Supporting Energy Efficiency & Community Revitalization
The PA Route 6 Energy Mini Grant Program helps small businesses, nonprofits, municipalities, community organizations, and commercial property owners invest in energy-efficient improvements that can lower operating costs and improve building performance throughout the Pennsylvania Route 6 Heritage Corridor.
Grant awards range from $1,000 to $20,000, with funding available through a competitive, rolling application process until available funds are exhausted.
Energy Mini Grant Eligibility
Eligible applicants include small businesses, commercial property owners, nonprofit organizations, municipalities, community organizations, heritage organizations, Main Street organizations, and downtown associations. Applicants must own the property or provide written authorization from the property owner.
Preferred projects must be located in McKean or Potter County and demonstrate an impact within the Pennsylvania Route 6 Heritage Corridor and West Penn Energy Fund service area. Priority may also be given to projects in downtown districts, historic commercial areas, revitalization districts, and communities demonstrating economic need or readiness for investment.
What Projects Can Receive Funding?
Eligible projects must improve building energy performance or reduce operating costs. Improvements may include:
- LED and Dark Sky Friendly lighting
- HVAC improvements and heat pumps
- Smart thermostats and building controls
- ENERGY STAR® equipment
- Insulation and air sealing
- Energy-efficient windows and doors
- Commercial refrigeration and kitchen upgrades
- Professional energy audits
- Small-scale solar projects
- Other innovative energy improvements
A 1:1 cash match is encouraged but not required. Projects with matching contributions, leveraged funding, or documented in-kind professional services may receive additional consideration.
Before You Apply for Funding
Applicants must contact their electric utility or an approved ACT 129 contractor to determine project eligibility and register the proposed project through the ACT 129 Program before submitting an application. Registration confirmation, an incentive application, or utility pre-approval must be included with the application.
Projects may not begin before written grant approval is received.
Application Submission: Please submit the completed application and all required documents by email to info@paroute6.com on or before September 1, 2026.
Applications received after September 1, 2026 may be considered on a rolling, competitive basis until available funds are committed or exhausted.
